Hey, I’m Jeremy Black. I’m a music producer and composer from the U.S., now living and working in Berlin. I grew up in a musical family—there was always a piano in the living room, and I started taking lessons at five. Drums came a bit later, and by the time I was a teenager, music had completely taken over my life. In high school, I started a punk band with my friend Jeannie—who happened to be the daughter of jazz legend John Scofield. He ended up mentoring us and even wrote my recommendation letter to Berklee College of Music.

I went on to study Music Production and Engineering at Berklee, where I met Sam Cohen and Jesse Gallagher. Together, we formed the psych-pop band Apollo Sunshine. We got signed straight out of school and spent most of our twenties on the road. We had some lucky breaks—a song placed in Breaking Bad, a publishing deal with Domino, and a lot of unforgettable tours. After the band wrapped up in 2010, I opened Coyote Hearing Studio in Oakland to focus full-time on producing and composing.

Alongside producing records, I also compose music for film, TV, and a few music libraries.

Since moving to Berlin, my musical life has expanded even further. I’m active in the local scene as a DJ and co-founded the acid-disco band Tegel Boys.

Over the years, I’ve worked with a wide range of artists—from members of Bon Iver and The National to Ezra Furman, May The Muse, Amilli, Dave Harrington (Darkside), FJAAK, Fil Bo Riva, Dorofeeva, and many more. In 2016, I spent some time working at Justin Vernon's April Base Studio in Wisconsin and I was invited to participate and helped in the production of PEOPLE, the collaborative festival started by Bon Iver and The National.
